The off-piste itinerary from Col <\/strong>Pers<\/strong>, starting on the Iseran<\/strong> glacier<\/strong>, is one of Val d\u2019Is\u00e8re\u2019s wildest and most impressive lines\u2014perfect for experienced skiers<\/strong>. This descent offers 1320 metres of vertical drop through glacial terrain, shaded north-facing slopes, and deep mountain gorges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remote and rarely tracked, Col Pers promises big mountain skiing<\/strong> for those with a passion for exploration and high-altitude powder. It demands a solid understanding of the terrain, proper avalanche safety equipment, and strong navigation skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Access from the Iseran Glacier<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The route begins at the top of the Montet<\/strong> drag lift<\/strong>, at 3240 metres. To get there, you must first take the Glacier drag lift<\/strong>, perched on the Iseran glacier above Val <\/u>d\u2019Is\u00e8re<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the summit, traverse skiers’ right across the slope. This long traverse, often sun-exposed, leads you to Col <\/strong>Pers<\/strong> (also written Col Perse). Snowboarders, take note: this section can be tedious due to long flat stretches and tricky balance points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Suspended Bowl and Transition to Grand <\/strong>Torsa\u00ef<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Stay centred in the glacial bowl<\/strong> for a steady descent down to around 2700m. Keep an eye to your left for sloped terrain offering an escape route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traverse across to access this gentler terrain, then drop fully north into the Grand <\/strong>Torsa\u00ef<\/strong> sector<\/strong>\u2014a vast, wide expanse of untracked powder and mellow pitches. This is where the descent truly opens up, offering a sense of freedom and solitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With panoramic views, crisp glacial air<\/strong>, and consistent north-facing snow<\/strong>, the Col <\/strong>Pers<\/strong> descent<\/strong> provides a unique alpine experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final Section: Sainte-Charles Bridge or the <\/strong>Malpasset<\/strong> Gorge<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As you continue down the valley, the natural route leads to Pont Sainte-Charles<\/strong> (1920m), just above Le <\/strong>Fornet<\/strong> village. This is the most common and safest endpoint. From here, you can easily return to the Fornet cable car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some adventurous skiers attempt to push further down through Malpasset<\/strong> Gorge<\/strong>. This section is extremely committing and can become dangerous or impassable<\/strong> depending on snow and ice conditions. Always check with ski patrol before considering this exit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
